The SRK, the Central Committee of
Conservative Laestadian Congregations is the central organization that was
established in 1906. It is the central organization of the 196 local congregations, association of
peace, with the main office in Oulu.
According to the by-laws of the SRK and the
associations of peace, their purpose is “to awaken and inspire Christian faith
life and to promote Christian moral habits, national sobriety and stabilize a
patriotic mind among our people.”
To carry out the purpose, the association
does mission work domestically and abroad, does and supports child and youth
work, publishes literature, newspapers, magazines and recordings. The SRK has
sister organisations in Sweden and North America. In addition to these, there
are association of peace in Norway, Russia and Estonia.
